Message From Our Educator 6/18/08

Most of our teachers are returning which always makes me happy. 18 students from our Confirmation class have expressed an interest in joining our staff and I have already placed most of them. There are a few openings on the staff so, if you are interested in working in the school, please let me know.

I am particularly looking for people that would like to teach first grade. I already have assigned wonderful high school juniors to these classes but I need two adults to teach with them If this is something that might interest you, please let me know. I am always looking for people to teach a chug, an interest class for our 3rd - 7th graders. It is a 1/2 hour class and we try to make these classes something fun but educational for the kids. If you have an idea for a chug, please let me know.

I would like to highlight our specialists on our staff. Ann Mehrman has been teaching art for 18 years. She is taking a year off and will be very hard to replace! Presently she is a full time student at College of DuPage, studying photography. Liz Gnippe has helped Ann for two years. She is graduating from Hinsdale High School and will be attending Indiana University in the fall. Alex Kowalczyk will be a senior at Glenbard North and is a pitcher for the varsity baseball team. Sue Leftwich has been teaching for 11 years, the past seven teaching music. During the week she is an occupational therapist, specializing in hand therapy. Daniel Frankel has been helping Sue for three years. He just completed his freshman year at Elmhurst College. He enjoys playing guitar and hockey. Robin Carlini runs the office at Westlake on Sunday mornings. Robin has run the office for many years. She did it for several years at Montini and then took time off to have the triplets and returned two years ago. Robin is kept busy with her six children, as well as the children who come to her house during the week for babysitting.
