Etz Chaim Recognizes Charitable Organizations

Between Make a Difference Day at Temple Saturday November 14th and the Make a Difference family program at Westlake Sunday November 15th, Temple members were introduced to 10 different social service and charity organizations. Check out these links to find out how these organizations help people and the environment, and, if you’d like, learn how you can get involved.

Cause & Affect Foundation – microphilanthropy travels to distressed regions and forms local partnerships to find the most effective means of distributing funds in order to assist individual families, schools, clinics and local non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Family Shelter Service in Downers Grove – individual and group counseling, court advocacy and services, shelter, hotline, teen services, children's services, Latina services, and support for moms, children and babies who escape abusive homes.

DuPage PADS Inc. provides safe and hospitable shelter, support services, and advocacy to homeless or at risk individuals and families of DuPage County, of which we are a PADS site every Sunday evening.
 
People’s Resource Center in Wheaton – offer food pantry, clothing, emergency rent and mortgage assistance, computer training, adult and family literacy, and job assistance to respond to basic human needs, promote dignity and justice, and create a future of hope and opportunity for the residents of DuPage County.

Public Allies -  advances new leadership to strengthen communities, nonprofits, and civic participation.

Rogers Memorial Hospital – behavioral health care services for children, teens and adults in Oconomowoc, WI

SCARCE - an organization devoted to helping the environment, they provide many rescuing and recycling projects.

Sharing Connection is a Furniture Bank which provides furniture and household items to low-income families helping them transform a bare apartment or house into a home.

Super Sibs – support and recognition for brothers and sisters of children with cancer.

Umbrellas for Peace is an international organization that promotes peace through umbrellas. We will have a display of some of our umbrellas in the library.
