The Congregation is invited to Sukkot services this year on Sunday, September 23rd at 7:00 PM.
Rabbi Bob will be joining us for this festive service and will tell his infamous Sukkot story... “Don’t Bite Off the Pitome” in only the special way that he can.
SOMETHING NEW THIS YEAR...we are asking everyone to participate in 'Pretty Paper Packages for PADS'
Every Sunday night, Etz Chaim's Social Hall hosts PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter). We feed 50 - 60 people and 35 homeless guests sleep here. We give them a hot meal for dinner, breakfast when they wake up, and as they leave in the morning give them a sack lunch to take with. Each week the need for non-perishables grows and now are supplies are at a desperately low level. We are asking you to please bring and/or donate: “Pretty Paper Packages for PADS” (all non-perishable).
Specifically, we need:
- 10 3/4” paper dinner plates* – thick like Chinet
- 5-6” paper dessert plates*
- Soup or cereal bowls*
- Cold cups - plastic 8oz.
- Hot cups - paper 8oz.*
- Plastic cutlery
- Dish soap (any brand)
- Ground coffee in cans - decaf and regular
- Powdered lemonade
- Ovaltine or Nesquik
- Salad dressings in plastic bottles
- Olive and Canola Oil
- Gift cards to Jewel or Marianos for the purpose of buying butter, margarine and milk
Just like we used to bring 'gaily decorated baskets of fruit'...get a container, fill it up with any of the products listed above and bring it with you on Sunday night, September 23rd. You will be doing a wonderful mitzvah by helping to fill this tremendous need for PADS.
Thank you so much!
