We finished up our study of teh Worship service and the consluding prayers.  The class worked on our shabbaton Prayer books.  They are coming together nicely.  HOMEWORK:  Write an interpretation for one of the following:

1.  Kedushat HaYom - the holiness of shabbat

2.  Misheberach - prayer for healing

3.  Aleinu - concluding prayer.

Both classes had very small attendance today.  The students in class had a chance to create bowls for the upcoming Empty Bowl event in the fall.  In class we discussed the upcoming Shabbaton and the plans for the rest of the school year.  No Homework for Sunday.

The class reviewed the main concepts of Aleinu and the Mourners Kaddish was introduced.  Reading practice occured.  HOMEWORK:  Pages 138,  139 and 140 in the closing section of your Tefillot Guide.  Practice reading the Aleinu on page 171.  Parents should sign your reading log after you have read to them

It was nice to see everyone back after spring break.  April is going to be a busy month for ous preparing for our 6th grade Shabbaton.  In class we reviewed the sections of the worship service we have already studies and the Closing prayer sections was introduced.  We focused on the Aleinu prayer.  The studeents were able to volunteer to read sections fo the prayer.  The other part of the class we worked on the shabbaton prayerbook.  Students broke up into groups and chose drawings and writings to include in the prayer book are creating.  HOMEWORK:

We concluded our study of the Torah section of the worship service.  The students participated in reading practice for words found in the Haftarah Blessings.  There is no Homework over spring Break.  I hope to see everyone at the Megillah reading on Wednesday.

The class is concluding their study of the Torah section of the Worship service.  Our discussion and activities centered aroound the Haftarah Blessings.  HOMEWORK:  Create two interpretations for a part of the Torah service.  One can be a drawing and one needs to be a writing.  You can do an interpretation of the complete Torah service or a specific component of it,  suchs as:  taking the Torah from the ark, Hakafah, Hagbah, Galilah,  Reading the Torah, returning the Torah to the ark, etc.  Practice reading the words on page 131

The class continued our study of the Torah service.  We did an exercise on how to read without vowels.  HOMEWORK:  Complete pages 124, 124 and 126 in the Torah section of your Tefillot Guide.  Practice reading pages 168 and 169.  Parents should sign your reading log once youhave read to them.

We had great discussions about the Torah service today and the concepts behind the Torah blessings.  HOMEWORK:  Read and Complete pages 120, 121, 122, 123.  Also continue to practice reading the Torah Blessings on page 155.  Parents should sign your reading log adter you have read to them.

The class conitnued the study of the Torah section of the worship service.  We focused on the start of the Torah services and the Blessings for reading the Torah.  HOMEWORK:  Complete pages 113, 116, 117 in your Tefillot guide.  Practice reading pages 114, 115 and 166.  Parenst should sign your reading log once you have read to them

The class continued our discussion of the Torah service focusing on what happens prior to the reading of the Torah.  the students did some exploring in the prayer book to find specific components of the Torah service.  HOMEWORK:  Complete pages 111 and 112 in the Torah section of the Tefillot Guide.  Continue to practice reading the Torah Blessings on page 166.  There will be a reading assessment on the Torah Blessings.  Parents should sign your reading log once you have read to them.
