It’s interesting how beginnings for Jews always start in September or in the Hebrew month of Tishri. My Jewish clock has been ticking away as I plan and get ready for the beginning of Religious School. It is exciting to know that the entire school will all be together in the Etz Chaim building this year. However, that has brought with it many challenges and much rearranging.
Although I have not met most of you, I have been here working since mid-June and it’s been so exciting to read about and see all the wonderful things that go on here at Congregation Etz Chaim. I know I have huge shoes to fill. Anne Stein has provided Etz Chaim with a wonderful school strongly anchored with amazing teachers and programs.

It is part of the Reform Movement of which we are all members.
This spring I will again teach an Introduction to Bible course at Elmhurst College. We will explore the Biblical texts using scholarly, literary and traditional approaches. We will look at what these texts meant to the original authors, what they have meant through out the centuries and what they mean today. The course will meet on Wednesday evenings at Elmhurst College from 6:30 to 9:30 PM beginning February 4.
