Sat, 11/21/2015 - 11:10am -- 5th Grade Hebrew

Shalom Talmidim - This week we continued to learn about the V'ahavta.  We also talked about what we would teach someone who knew nothing about Judaism.  Love your ideas!

This week's sh'ayla is:  Mezuzot (which contain the Sh'ma and the V'ahavta) have a "shin" on them.  What does this "shin" represent?

Thu, 10/08/2015 - 2:29pm -- 5th Grade Hebrew

Shalom Talmidim - In class, we reviewed the Ma'ariv Aravim and the shoreshim (roots) associated with it.  We began chart reading!  You are such a motivated group of Hebrew readers.

This week's sh'ayla (question) is:  What Hebrew month are we currently in?

Remember to read the Ma'ariv and have a parent sign your reading log.  5 minutes every day!

Please bring in a photo of yourself.

Shalom Talmidim - In class on Wednesday:

We reviewed class procedure regarding bathroom and water passes.

I listened to everyone read to get a baseline assessment of reading skills.  If you were absent, I'll have you read to me during our next class.

We played a game using the Avot v'Imahot prayer.

Please remember to read daily for five minutes.  So important!  I'm looking forward to seeing you all again next Wednesday.

Hebrew on Your iTouch or iPhone

Fri, 10/01/2010 - 12:00am -- Anne Stein

If you or your child got an ITouch or an IPhone for Hanukkah, try downloading the app Ishma. It is an app to teach the Shema. You can hear the Shema and you can play games to learn the words. This is put out by Behrman House, one of the publishers of Jewish educational textbooks. All of the Hebrew books and most of the Judaica books that we use are from Behrman House. They are always on the cutting edge in terms of ways to engage students. Hopefully they will be adding to their “app” line.
