We have just started our fourth year with our Mishpacha l’mishpacha program where we pair our fifth graders with the sixth graders from the Meged school in Ranana. It has been a great program and I’m thrilled that some good friendships have formed.
I’m delighted that the Meged teacher Sandy Elbaz is going to be here for Sukkot. I have been to her school two times and now it will be our opportunity to host and thank her for all that she has done to make our program such a success.
The first day of school this year one of our now sixth graders was so excited to tell me how much fun she has had skyping with her pen pal all summer. This student got a real glimpse into life as a child living with fear most of the summer. I believe this is a friendship that will hold for years to come.
This past Sunday our fifth graders all received their new pen pal’s name and email. I’m hoping that some of these students will also make long lasting relationships with their new Israeli friend.
