Last November, we welcomed a Torah from Wheaton College which was donated on permanent loan and placed in our ark. Since that time, we have kept the Torah on display in our ark, and will be using it during the Bat Mitzvah of Willa Fidlow in the coming weeks. Torah scrolls are not meant to be used as museum relics, but rather, Torah scrolls live when we engage in study and use them.
We are so blessed and honored to have a partnership with Wheaton College where Rabbi Bob studies with Wheaton College professors and faculty on a weekly basis. It is even purported that he has an office at the college where he continues to write in his retirement. Because we have such a strong and close relationship with Wheaton College, it is my pleasure to make you aware of a wonderful program being offered at Wheaton College. On Thursday night, February 16th at 7:00, Wheaton College will welcome Dr. AJ Levine who will be lecturing on "Jesus, Judaism and Jewish-Christian Relations." She is the professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt Divinity School. (Yes, I knew her back in the day and so does our Interim Educator Lynda Gutcheon)
This is a free lecture and is open to the public. For more information, you may contact: [email protected]
It is part of a Wheaton College series entitled "Who is my Neighbor? Jews and Muslims and Christians in conversation." This is a wonderful way to continue our partnership and friendship and I highly recommend everyone going to this lecture.
