I hope that you are all enjoying the summer so far. Here at Etz Chaim, we are busy getting ready for the new school year. Registration forms are coming in and it’s so gratifying to see the volunteer forms returning (filled out!) as well.
New this year, the volunteer forms were sent to everyone in the congregation! There is so much untapped talent among our community at large from which our students can benefit. I hope that you will consider getting involved and joining those who already are a part of this team. We need teachers and many other volunteers to uphold our reputation for excellence in Jewish education. Volunteering for our school connects you to our community, strengthens your social network, and is fun and fulfilling. Whatever your schedule or skill set, there is an opportunity for you to help our students.
One such opportunity is leading a chug. A chug is a weekly, thirty-minute enrichment class held between Hebrew and Judaica on Sunday mornings. Do you have a passion for chess or expertise in improv? Is mah johng your game? Maybe you’re a puzzle fanatic. Wherever your interest lies, our students would benefit from your sharing it with them. Thank you so much to those of you who have already signed on to run a chug! I would be happy to talk with you further about doing this mitzvah. Please stop by or call. My door is always open.
Wednesday, September 4th – 1st day of Hebrew School (3rd-7th graders)
